Last month the finishing touches of the Jurassic Sea Floor cabinet was completed with the rest of the specimen being placed on display. With some personal fossils from my fellow volunteer, Martin, we mimicked how the specimen may have looked on the sea floor. I also designed a graphic to show the different parts of the skeleton which hopefully will be printed soon to accompany the display!

The second half of the display was also finished, with the workbench section now being complete as well! The vertebra, and neural arch where glued from lots of pieces and it’s very satisfying seeing them more complete and together similar to how they would’ve been. With this, all donated bones are now on display for everyone to see! We also got to check in on Titus ready for the new gallery being installed, and cleaned a very dusty pliosaur! I look forward to seeing the new gallery come together and to have Titus back on display!

@chloe your time and patience putting together this unique Ichthyosaur for display is very apparent. Our donation of the specimen to the Nottingham Natural History Museum’s rich fossil collection at Wollaton Hall, was clearly the obvious choice, it’s already a huge topic of conversation. This really is a major attraction in the making, museum volunteer workmanship at it’s finest.
